‘HALEY’

Cebu-based artist Clare makes a comeback with his sophomore single, ‘Haley’. Following the grief in his debut release, Clare dives into the darker bits of that same loss, confronting the remains from someone he loved once.

Beach waves hit the back of Clare's mind as he tries to find any proof that his ex friend cared about their friendship, especially now that it's ended. ‘Haley’ is an achingly atmospheric return for Clare where the artist walks into angstier territory than usual, battling his attachment and anger that refuse to separate.

“‘Haley came from a place I couldn’t make sense of,” says Clare. “I kept asking myself if they thought about me at all, or if I was the only one still carrying everything we went through. How were they okay so quickly when it was taking me so long to be?”

Clare’s sound lives between indie-folk and soft indie, drawing influences from Conan Gray, Sufjan Stevens, and Sydney Rose. Through his work, he weaves narratives rooted in longing and nostalgia, carried by a candour that sits at the core of his sound.

As Clare continues to expand his catalog of deeply personal stories in his music, his latest release strengthens his focus on emotionally driven storytelling, lingering in the spaces people leave behind.
